Removal the front wheel suspension spring (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

This work requires a special clamping device. The spring on the car is in a compressed state and has approximately four times the pre-compression. Therefore, there is a high risk of injury during work. The length of the springs on all models is the same. But depending on the type of body and configuration, rubber supports of different heights are installed on them, be sure to pay attention to this when replacing.

Sequence of works

1. Place the vehicle on stands.

2. Install the clamping device on three sides of the spring so that all turns are covered, if possible.

3. Compress the spring until it can be removed from the cups.

4. When replacing the spring, slowly release and remove the rubber supports.

5. Before reinstalling, check the rubber support for wear and replace if necessary. To facilitate reinstallation, apply dishwashing liquid to the supports.

6. Clean the lower cup on the wishbone and the upper seat on the body.

7. Place the compressed spring into the lower cup so that the end of the coil engages in the cup.

8. Slowly release the spring using a clamping device.

9. Check the spring fit in the cups and lower the car.
