Removal and installation the front suspension spring (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W116)

Unscrew the fastening of the upper part of the shock absorber.

Place the front of the car on stands and remove the front wheels.

Using a suitable device, compress four or five turns of the spring and remove the spring. Loosen the screw of the device and remove it from the spring.

The spring is installed in the reverse order. When installing, pay attention to the relative position of the spring, rubber gasket and plate (Fig. 209). Put the car on its wheels, check its position and, if necessary, adjust the headlights.
