Raise the front of the vehicle on stands as described in section 13.1 and remove the front wheels.
Loosen the union nuts of the brake pipes and remove the spring clip from the hose holder. Seal the open end of the pipeline.
Unbolt the tie rod to the swing arm and disconnect the tie rod.
Install a stand under half of the suspension.
Unscrew the brake extension from the front of the body base.
Mark the position of the heads of the eccentric bolts of the front and rear hinges of the lower transverse arm relative to the cross member or traverse, unscrew the fastening nuts and remove the eccentric bolts from the hinges (pic. 211).
Pic. 211. Front eccentric bolt (wheel alignment adjustment).
1 - eccentric bolt.
Remove the protective cover from the traverse.
Remove the front and rear pivot parts from the lower transverse arm.
Unscrew the bolts of the traverse and lower the traverse down (pic. 212).
Pic. 212. Traverse.
1 - longitudinal reinforcement of the body,
2 - traverse,
3 - lower transverse lever.
Disconnect the anti-roll bar from the upper transverse link.
Loosen the upper control arm joint bolt and remove the bolt.
Remove half of the front suspension.
Check the condition of the control arm joints and anti-roll bar rubber mounts. replace if necessary.
When installing the front suspension half, perform the following work.
Place the front suspension half assembly on a jack and slowly raise it to the position required for installation.
Attach the upper control arm to the body and install the stabilizer bar mounting bolts. Do not completely tighten the mounting bolts. For the correct position of the anti-roll bar, both halves of the front suspension must be located at the same height.
Install the lower control arm pivot to the body cross member. To do this, install the eccentric bolts in the hinge in accordance with the marks and tighten the nuts by hand. The eccentric bolts determine the wheel alignment, so the wheel alignment must be checked after assembly.
Install the traverse on the longitudinal reinforcement of the body.
Install the brake extension to the front of the body base.
Install brake lines. Rotate the pivot pins in both directions as far as they will go and check that there are no harmful contacts between the brake hoses and the front suspension parts. Reposition the hoses if necessary.
Install front suspension spring (section 13.2).
Install shock absorber (section 13.1).
Install tie rod and tighten nut to 35 Nm. Hold the ball joint head with a hexagon.
Bleed air from the brake system as described in section 17.7.
Put the car on the wheels, once again check the coincidence of the marks on the heads of the eccentric bolts and on the cross member (or on the traverse) and tighten the fastening nuts to 180 Nm. If there are no marks, put the eccentric bolts in the middle position.
Tighten the upper control arm pivot bolt and anti-roll bar bolts.
Check the position of the car on the front suspension (section 13.6.4).
Check front wheel alignment and adjust if necessary (section 13.6).
Check headlight adjustment.
