Knock out or remove the outer ring of the inner bearing with a puller from the hub.
Using a brass or aluminum drift, carefully press out the outer race of the outer bearing.
Check hub flange runout. Check the condition of the threaded holes for the wheel bolts, seating surfaces for bearings in the hub and roller bearings. Roller bearings must be replaced if the following defects are present:
Increased pressure of the outer ends of the tapered rollers on the inner ring, which leads to peeling of the chrome coating.
Corrosion of the working surfaces of the rollers as a result of water ingress due to a defective gland.
The outer race of the bearing is light brown or blue as a result of bearing overheating.
Two bearings are replaced at the same time. Always use bearings from the same manufacturer. When reinstalling bearings, it is unacceptable to interchange rings and rollers with separators.
When installing, do the following:
Press the bearing outer races into the hub.
Bearings must be filled with 50 g of grease.
Fill rollers with separators with grease.
Install the inner rings of the bearings into the hub and fill the end surfaces of the rollers with grease.
Press the oil seal into the hub and lubricate the working edges.
Put the rest of the grease into the hub. With a large amount of lubricant, it is transformed and loses its lubricating properties; with a small amount of lubricant, full lubrication of the bearings is not ensured.
Install the front wheel hub onto the stub axle as described in the previous section.
