Operation of ABS/ASR/BAS/ESP systems (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
In case of malfunction (for example, when a wire breaks) or low voltage in the on-board network (below 10.5 V) the safety switch in the electronic control unit is triggered and the ABS system is switched off, which is indicated by the yellow ABS indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lighting up. ASR and ESP systems (if it is installed) are also switched off. The normal service brake system continues to operate. When braking, the vehicle behaves as if it were not equipped with the ABS system.

If the BAS/ASR or BAS/ESP indicator light comes on while driving, there is a fault in these systems.

If the ABS warning light comes on while driving, proceed as follows:

1. Stop driving, stop the engine and start it again.

2. Check the network voltage: if it is below 10.5 V, charge the battery.

If the ABS indicator lamp lights up at the beginning of the trip and then goes out, this means that the voltage in the on-board network was initially low, but increased during the trip due to the generator. In this case, perform the following work:

1. Check the fastening and contacts of the terminals on the battery.

2. Place the car on supports, remove the wheels, check the electrical wires leading to the sensors for external damage. If no faults are found, then further testing should be carried out at a service station. The car is equipped with an electronic self-diagnostic system, so all errors are automatically recorded in the memory of the storage device.
