Traction control system (ASR) (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

The electronic anti-skid system ASR brakes the skidding wheels at start-up and redistributes torque to the non-skidding wheels.

Electronics monitor the loss of traction of the wheels with the road surface and immediately provide the necessary pressure in the brake mechanism of this wheel. In this case, the system redistributes the torque to the wheel that is in contact with the road surface, and in extreme cases, even to a single wheel.

In general, the autonomous ASR system uses many elements of the ABS system. The anti-skid system is activated at the start of movement and automatically switches off at a speed of 40 km/h. A special advantage of the system is that it does not negatively affect either the driving performance or controllability at the start of movement.
