Removing
All petrol models and diesel models without engine oil heat exchanger
Removing the starter from the nest in the clutch housing
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
2. Remove the engine mudguard from the front of the engine compartment.
3. Remove the air filter. Unscrew and remove the intake manifold support bracket.
4. At the bottom of the oil pan, unscrew the guide hose bracket and move the hose to the side.
5. From the back of the traction relay, unscrew the nuts and screws and disconnect the electrical wires from the traction relay.
6. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and check that the left swing arm is at the maximum distance from the starter. On turbocharged diesel models, disconnect the center tie rod from the left swing arm.
7. Unscrew the nuts and remove the upper and lower starter mounting bolts.
8. Remove the starter from the clutch housing and remove it from the engine compartment (see picture).
Models with diesel engines with oil heat exchanger
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
2. Remove the mudguard from the bottom of the engine compartment.
3. Remove the air filter. Unscrew and remove the intake manifold support bracket.
4. Attach the hoist straps to the engine lifting eyes. Raise the load handler until the weight of the engine is supported by the load handler. On both sides of the engine, unscrew the lower bolts of the engine mounts.
5. Raise the engine to provide room for the starter to be removed.
6. Unscrew nuts and take out bolts of the top and lower fastenings of a starter.
7. Remove the starter from the clutch housing and remove it from the engine compartment.
Installation
1. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
