Removal the voltage regulator unit and brush holder
1. Remove the generator.
2. Place the generator on the work bench with the pulley facing down.
3. On the smaller size generator, remove the screws, release the clips and remove the plastic cover from the back of the generator.

5. Measure the length of the generator brushes in the free state from the manufacturer's mark located on the side to the edge of the brush. If the length of the brushes is less than the permissible, replace the voltage regulator and brush holder unit.
6. Check the condition of the generator contact ring surface. If there are any scratches or nicks on the contact rings, sand the contact rings using fine-grained sandpaper.

7. Assemble the generator in the reverse order of disassembly.
8. Install the generator on the vehicle.
