Removing
1. Remove the gearbox.
2. Remove the lower engine mudguard.
3. Drain the engine oil from the engine.
4. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
5. Remove the air filter.
6. Unscrew the cap from the reservoir of the power steering system and, using a syringe, pump out the maximum amount of fluid, then replace the cap.
7. If present, unscrew and disconnect the lines from the power steering pump.
8. Remove the pipes from the brackets on the engine.
9. If present, unscrew the air conditioning compressor from the engine and move it to the side without disconnecting the pipes from it.
10. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
11. On DOHC models, remove the liner from under the left wheel arch, then unscrew and remove the oil lines from the oil cooler.
12. Unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the fuel supply and return lines. Disconnect the fuel return line from the pressure regulator and the fuel supply line from the fuel distributor or supply pipe.
13. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever.
14. Mark and disconnect coolant supply hoses, vacuum hoses and electrical connectors from the engine. Release the wiring harness from the mounting brackets or brackets in the engine compartment.
15. On the flywheel side of the engine, unscrew the crankshaft speed sensor, remove the sensor's electrical wires from the mounting brackets and fix the sensor in the engine compartment so as not to damage it during further work.
16. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector from the left fender panel ignition module, then remove the knock sensor harness from the mounting brackets and route the wires across the engine.
17. On automatic transmission models, unscrew the transmission fluid pipes from the heat exchanger.
18. Loosen the clamp and remove the coolant supply hose to the heater from the left rear of the cylinder head.
19. Unscrew the union nut and remove the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold.
20. Hook the engine with the hoist straps and lift it just enough so that the weight of the engine can be supported by the hoist.
21. Place a sheet of steel or cardboard between the rear of the cylinder head and the engine bulkhead to prevent damage when lifting the engine.
22. Finally, check that all hoses, pipes and electrical connectors are disconnected from the engine.
23. Working under the vehicle, on both sides of the engine, unscrew the lower power unit mounting bolts.
24. Carefully remove the engine from the engine compartment. When removing the engine, if necessary, tilt and turn it so that it does not damage the engine compartment.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. When installing the motor, tilt and turn it as necessary so that it is seated without injury.
3. Tighten all fastening bolts and nuts to the required torque.
4. Connect all hoses and electrical connectors to the engine as marked previously.
5. Connect and, if necessary, adjust the accelerator cable.
6. Install the auxiliary drive belt.
7. Install the radiator and radiator fan.
8. Install the gearbox.
9. Fill the engine with engine oil and the cooling system with coolant.
