Caution! The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) contains static-sensitive components, so when disconnecting electrical connectors from the ECU, do not touch the connector contacts with your hands or tools, as this may damage the ECU components. When working on the ECU, discharge static electricity from your body by touching grounded metal objects. Disconnect electrical connectors from the ECU only for the time required for repairs.
Removal
1. The ECU is located behind the engine compartment bulkhead near the battery.
2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
3. Press the spring clips and disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector from the electronic control unit.
4. Remove the locking pin, unscrew the screws and remove the electronic control unit. On models with an anti-lock braking system, the anti-lock braking system control unit must first be removed.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
