Removal
Fuel booster pump components
A – high pressure fuel pump; B – fuel booster pump; C – fuel line; D – fuel line connection; E – nut; F – gasket
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. On non-turbocharged models, remove the air cleaner cover.
3. Using clamps, pinch the fuel supply and return lines. Loosen the clamp and remove the fuel line from the rear of the lift pump (see picture).
4. Unscrew the union nut on the top of the fuel lift pump and remove the line going to the fuel filter.
5. When removing the fuel lift pump, a small amount of engine oil may leak. Unscrew the nuts and remove the fuel lift pump from the high-pressure fuel pump. Remove the fuel lift pump gasket.

Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. When installing a new fuel lift pump, unscrew the lower half of the fuel filter on the top of the pump and install it on the new pump.
3. When installing the fuel lift pump to the high pressure fuel pump housing, use a new gasket.
4. Tighten the fuel lift pump mounting nuts to the specified torque.
