Removal the oil pump drive coupling from the crankshaft


1. Remove the drive chain cover.

2. Using paint, make an alignment mark on the crankshaft sprocket and timing chain link.

3. Remove the camshaft sprocket.

4. On later engines, remove the drive chain tensioner shoe to allow the chain to be removed from the crankshaft sprocket.

5. Remove the oil pump drive coupling from the front end of the crankshaft (see picture).

6. Remove the drive chain from the crankshaft sprocket.

7. Using a puller, remove the sprocket from the front end of the crankshaft.

8. If present, remove the woodruff key.

Examination



1. Check the condition of the teeth on the sprocket. The teeth on the sprocket are symmetrical and if there is wear on the teeth, the sprocket must be replaced.

Installation



1. Install the woodruff key into the crankshaft groove.

2. When installing a new crankshaft sprocket, mark it in the same location as the old sprocket.

3. Align the sprocket groove with the woodruff key and install the sprocket onto the crankshaft. You can use a tubular drift and a hammer when installing the sprocket.



4. Install the oil pump drive coupling.

5. Place the drive chain on the crankshaft sprocket in accordance with the previously applied marks.

6. If equipped, install the drive chain tensioner shoe.

7. Install the camshaft sprocket.

8. Install the drive chain cover.
