Removal the upper timing chain guide

1. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
2. Screw an additional bolt into one of the upper chain guide mounting pins.
3. Using a hammer with jaws, remove the chain guide mounting pin by the head of the additional bolt (see Fig. Using a hammer with jaws and an additional bolt to remove the upper chain guide dowel pin, Removing the upper chain guide dowel pin).
4. Remove the second upper chain guide mounting pin in the same manner, making sure that the chain guide does not move the chain.
5. Remove the upper chain guide from the cylinder head (see Fig. Removing the upper drive chain guide).
6. Check the condition of the upper chain guide for wear, cracks and damage and replace it if necessary.
7. Install the upper chain guide in place and secure it with the dowel pins, driving them halfway into the cylinder head.
8. Apply a thin bead of sealant to the protruding portion of each dowel pin and then drive the dowel pins completely into the cylinder head.
9. Install the camshaft sprocket.
