Removing the upper guide chain guide
1. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
2. Screw an additional bolt into one of the top chain guide dowel pins.
3. Using an inertia hammer with grips, remove the chain guide locating pin by the head of the additional bolt (see fig. Using an impact hammer with grips and an additional bolt to remove the upper chain guide locating pin, Removing the upper chain guide locating pin).
4. Remove the second dowel pin of the upper chain guide in the same way. When doing this, make sure that the chain guide does not move the chain.
5. Remove the upper chain guide from the cylinder head (see fig. Removing the upper guide chain guide).
6. Check the condition of the upper chain guide for wear, cracks and damage and replace if necessary.
7. Install the upper chain guide in place and secure it with the dowel pins, driving them halfway into the cylinder head.
8. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the protruding portion of each locating pin and then drive the pins completely into the cylinder head.
9. Install the camshaft sprocket.
