Checking hydraulic valve clearance compensators (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)
Press the valve tappet (1), which includes the hydraulic clearance compensator, with a suitable tool (2) using normal hand force. When pressed in this way, all hydraulic lifters should move slightly downwards. If the compliance of any of the hydraulic compensators is higher than that of the others, then such a hydraulic compensator should be replaced.
