2. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
3. Remove glow plugs R13-R16 (see fig.5.70).

4. Scroll the crankshaft of the engine with a starter. Disconnect the wiring connector from the pressure control valve in the Y74 distributor.
5. Connect the compression tester 1 to the adapter 2. Screw the threaded adapter 3 into the glow plug hole of the cylinder to be tested.
6. Scroll the crankshaft of the engine with a starter and write down the resulting compression value. Compare the received value with the required one.
- New engine compression: 29-35 bar.
- Worn engine compression: 18 bar.
- Permissible difference between readings of individual cylinders: 3 bar.
If the compression is below the minimum allowable value, or if the difference between individual cylinder readings is greater than the allowable value, check for leaks.
