Removal the engine with the subframe (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

Removal



1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Drain the coolant.

3. Remove the front wheels.

4. Disconnect the air conditioner pipes.

5. Remove the side protective covers of the longitudinal beam, the protective cover of the upper part of the subframe, the front cross member, the radiator grille, the bumper.

6. Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter.

7. Remove the right headlight together with the turn signal.

8. Remove the additional windshield washer reservoir.

9. Remove the heater inlet pipe.

10. Remove the air filter.

11. Remove the engine cover.

12. Disconnect accelerator cable 1 from the throttle body (see figure 3.1).

13. Disconnect the gear shift lever from the cable.

14. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the engine.

15. Disconnect the connector from box 2.

16. Disconnect the pipes and tubes.

17. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

18. Unscrew bolt 8 (see figure 3.2). Mark the position of gear 9 and steering shaft cardan joint 10 (arrow).

14. Right engine bracket,
16. Limiter.


19. Remove bearing cover 3 and plate 4 on the longitudinal beam on the left and right.

20. Unscrew the brake calipers 7 from the steering knuckles. Be careful not to damage the brake lines. Attach the brake caliper 7 to the body with wire.

21. Remove the front wheel speed sensor B79.

22. Unscrew nut 11 securing shock absorber strut 12.

23. Secure all disconnected parts below the subframe with tension straps (see figure 3.3).

24. Loosen bolts 13 securing the right engine bracket 14.



25. Remove the right bracket 14 from the longitudinal beam.

26. Unscrew bolts 15 securing the left bracket to the longitudinal beam.

27. Remove the limiters 16 from the subframe.

28. Unscrew bolts 17 securing the subframe.

29. Disconnect all engine attachments and slowly lower the engine together with the subframe.

Installation



30. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Replace bolts 5 and 8.
