Removal
1. Remove retaining ring 1 from secondary shaft 5 (figure 4.72).
2. Remove 4th gear pinion 3 and thrust plate 2.
3. Remove the needle bearing 4.
Installation
4. Lubricate the needle bearing 4 and install it on the secondary shaft 5.
5. Install the 4th gear pinion 3 onto the secondary shaft so that the ears (arrow) on the synchronizer ring align with the grooves (arrow) on the 4th gear pinion.
6. Heat the thrust plate 2 to 80°C and install it.

7. Install a new retaining ring 1.
