Removal and installation the steering gear (Mercedes-Benz Vario 814)

Removal



1. Raise the front of the vehicle so that the front wheels can turn.

2. Remove cotter pin 2 and unscrew nut 1 securing the ball joint of the longitudinal steering rod (figure 6.1).

3. Press the ball joint out of the rod using a puller.

4. Disconnect the pressure 4 and drain 5 pipes from the steering gear.

5. Press the cover 6 on the steering gear upwards.

6. Unscrew the lower bolt 7 on the steering shaft joint 8.

7. Remove the joint together with the steering shaft from the steering gear.

8. Place a mark (arrow C) on the steering gear housing so that it aligns with the mark (arrow B) or mark (arrow A) on the steering arm.

9. Unscrew bolts 9 with nuts from the frame.

10. Remove the steering gear 3 with the bracket.

Installation



11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
