Note: All self-locking bolts and nuts must be replaced!


1. The installation details of the anthers are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Visually assess the condition of the anthers (see Section Evaluation of the condition of the steering rod joints and rack and pinion housing boots).

3. Remove the tie rod end (see Section Removal and installation tie rod ends).

4. Loosen the tie rod end lock nut (10i).

5. Remove the outer (11b) and inner (11a) clamps.

6. Remove the dust cover (11).

7. Replace the sealing ring (23k).

8. Assess the external condition of the rack and the amount of play in the inner hinge of the steering rod mount; replace defective components.

9. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
