Installation details of sealing elements of the main gear drive pinion
1 - Adjusting washer; 2 - Ring; 3 - Oil deflector; 4 - Compression ring; 5 - Sealing ring; 6 - Inner seal; 7 - Outer seal; 8 - Nut; 9 - Connecting flange


1. Remove the connecting flange (see Section Checking the concentricity of the seating of the connecting flanges of the main gear drives).

2. Remove the inner (6) and outer (7) oil seals.

3. Remove the sealing ring (5).

4. Lightly lubricate with liquid oil and install the new ring (5).

5. Using a special mandrel (460 589 15 15 00) install new seals (6 and 7) in their regular places.

Note. Rings without a rubberized outer edge are seated with sealant. The seal (6) is installed with the mandrel disk tucked in, (7) - without the disk tucked in.


6. Pack the space between the dust boot and the sealing lips of the outer oil seal (7) with light grease. Lightly lubricate the sealing lips and spring expander with the same grease.

7. Reinstall the connecting flange (see Section Checking the concentricity of the seating of the connecting flanges of the main gear drives).
