Front axle
Installation details of the front axle final drive gear
1 - Assembling the differential with the driven gear of the final drive; 2 - Nut; 3 - Connecting flange; 4 - Drive gear; 5 - Tapered roller bearing; 6 - Oil seal; 7 - Outer race of the bearing; 8 - Compression ring; 9 - Adjusting washer
Installation diagram of the reference jumper (3)
1. Remove the assembly of the front cross-axle differential with the driven gear of the final drive (1) (see Section Removal and installation of assemblies of cross-axle differentials with driven gears of main gears).
2. Remove seals (6) pinion gear (4) main gear (see Section Replacement of epiploons of leading gear wheels of the main transfers).
3. Having bolted the support jumper to the gearbox housing (3), depress the drive gear (4) and, - if necessary, - drill holes in the lintel to a diameter of 11÷12 mm. If necessary, disassemble the drive gear.
4. Remove the tapered roller bearing (5) and compression ring (8).
5. Wipe the removed components thoroughly and visually inspect their condition. Replace damaged parts.
6. Reinstall the drive gear (4), having previously filled it with a pin.
7. Install a NEW compression ring (8).
8. Using a suitable drift, seat the tapered roller bearing in place (5).
9. Install on the gear (4) NEW oil seals (6).
10. Using a special dynamometer (001 589 49 21 00) measure the resistance of the gear to turning, - if necessary, tighten the nut of the connecting flange.
Attention! If the nut has been overtightened, the compression ring must be replaced (8)!
11. Reinstall the driven gear differential assembly (1) (see Section Removal and installation of assemblies of cross-axle differentials with driven gears of main gears).
12. Check the concentricity of the connection flange, correct if necessary (see Section Checking the concentricity of the fit of the connecting flanges of the final drive gears).
Rear axle
Installation details of the rear axle final drive gear
1 - Differential box with main gear driven gear; 2 - Nut; 4 - Drive gear; 5 - Internal tapered roller bearing; 6 - Oil seals; 7 - Outer race of the inner bearing; 8 - Compression ring; 9 - Adjusting washer; 10 - Connecting flange; 12 - Outer tapered roller bearing
1. Remove the rear cross-axle differential assembly with final drive gear (1) (see Section Removal and installation of assemblies of cross-axle differentials with driven gears of main gears).
2. Remove from gear (4) connecting flange (10).
3. Remove seals (6) pinion gear (4) main gear (see Section Replacement of epiploons of leading gear wheels of the main transfers).
4. Having bolted the support jumper to the gearbox housing (3), depress the drive gear (4) complete with compression ring (8), - if necessary, develop holes in the jumper for a diameter of 11 ÷ 12 mm. If necessary, disassemble the drive gear.
5. Wipe the removed components thoroughly and visually inspect their condition. Replace damaged parts.
6. Land on the pinion (4) NEW compression ring (8).
7. Fill the drive gear (4) into the gearbox housing, having previously planted a pin in it.
8. Using a suitable drift, seat the outer tapered roller bearing (12).
9. Install NEW oil seals (6) (see Section Replacement of epiploons of leading gear wheels of the main transfers).
10. Attach to gear (4) connecting flange (10) (see Section Checking the concentricity of the fit of the connecting flanges of the final drive gears).
11. Measure the resistance of the gear to turning (see above paragraph 10 in subsection Front axle) and concentricity of its landing (see Section Checking the concentricity of the fit of the connecting flanges of the final drive gears), - make appropriate adjustments if necessary.
12. Reinstall the driven gear differential assembly (1) (see Section Removal and installation of assemblies of cross-axle differentials with driven gears of main gears).
13. By evaluating the contact patches, check that the gears of the final drive are correctly engaged, - if necessary, make the appropriate adjustments (see Section Checking the concentricity of the fit of the connecting flanges of the final drive gears).
