1. Illustrative material for replacing the front differential drive gear oil seal is shown in Ref. illustrations, which include all references in the text.
2. Disconnect the propeller shaft from the differential drive gear flange and use a 41 mm socket with a 3/4 square adapter and an appropriate gauge to determine the initial differential rotation resistance.
3. Caulk and loosen the nut (14b), the nut must be replaced without fail.
4. Pull outward to release the flange (14s) drive gear from the differential case.
5. Using a suitable screwdriver, release the seal (14d) from its seat and, using a suitable mandrel (093) put a new one in its place, after lubricating its sponges with universal hypoid oil SAE 85 W-90.
6. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of the dismantling of the components - when tightening the NEW nut (14b) lock the connecting flange (14s) with a key (092).
Attention! Tighten the nut in several stages until the initial differential torque resistance is reached (see paragraph 2)! In conclusion, caulk the nut, do not forget to check the differential for signs of leaks.
Rear differential
Illustrative material for replacing the rear differential drive gear oil seal is shown in the illustration, which includes all references in the text. The procedure is the same as described above for the front differential.
