Transfer case gear assembly installation details

1. The details of the transfer case reduction gear installation are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the transfer case shift mechanism (see Section Removal and installation the transfer case shift mechanism).

3. Rotate the reduction gear (1) so that the retaining ring (arrow) is accessible.

4. Release the retaining ring and simultaneously push the input shaft upwards from below - remove and put away the thrust washer (2) in a safe place.

5. Pull up to remove the reduction gear (1).

6. Rinse all components thoroughly, wipe with chamois leather and dry with compressed air.

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

8. Finally, check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
