4 - Sliding gear


1. The details of the transfer case shift mechanism installation are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the transfer case oil pump (see Section Removal and installation the transfer case oil pump).

3. Pull up and remove the intermediate shaft (2).

4. Pull up to remove the shift fork (3).

5. Rinse all components thoroughly, wipe with chamois leather and dry with compressed air.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

7. Finally, check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
