1 - Transfer case; 13 - Chain drive sprockets; 13a - Drive chain; 14 - Retaining ring; 15 - Ball bearing; 16 - Front output shaft; 17 - Seal; 18 - Planetary gear; 19 - Rear output shaft


1. The details of the planetary gearbox installation are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the chain drive assembly (13 and 13a) (see Section Replacing the front output shaft seal).

3. Pull up to release the rear output shaft (19) from the planetary assembly (18).

4. Also pulling upwards, remove the planetary gear assembly (18) from the transfer case housing.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

6. Finally, check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
