1. The details of the transfer case bearing assembly installation are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the planetary gear assembly (see Section Removal and installation of the planetary gear assembly of the transfer case center differential).

3. Turn in the direction shown by the arrow to remove the retaining ring (1).

4. Pull up and remove the bearing assembly with the holder (2).

5. Rinse all components thoroughly, wipe with chamois leather and dry with compressed air.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

7. Finally, check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
