Replacing the oil seal of the input shaft of the transfer case

1. Illustrative material for replacing the transfer case input shaft seal is shown in the illustration, which includes all references in the text.
2. Remove the transfer case (1) (see Section Removal and installation of the transfer case) and fix it on the mounting stand (010) with base plate (020).
3. Using a screwdriver, remove the input shaft oil seal - try not to damage the sealing surfaces of the shaft stub and the seat in the crankcase.
4. To prevent damage to the new oil seal, wind the spline of the shaft stub (3) layer of insulation.
5. Using a suitable mandrel, seat a new oil seal in its regular place.
6. Remove the tape and install the transfer case on the car (see Section Removal and installation of the transfer case).
7. Check the level of oil poured into the box, if necessary, make appropriate adjustments - the oil level should reach the lower cut of the control / filler hole.
8. Finally, start the engine and check the transfer case for signs of leaks.
