1. Illustrative material on replacing the transfer case input shaft seal is presented in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the rear propeller shaft.

3. Unbolt and loosen the fastening nut (6) and release the rear output flange (3) from the transfer case (1) - try not to lose the washer (5) and sealing ring (4).

Attention! The nut must be replaced without fail!


4. Remove the rear oil seal (2) and use a suitable mandrel to fit a new one in its place.

5. Refit the outlet flange - replace the sealing ring (4) if necessary. Tighten and crimp the NEW mounting nut.

6. Connect the propeller shaft.

7. Finally, check the oil level in the transfer case and make the appropriate adjustments if necessary.

8. Start the engine and check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
