Transfer case oil pump installation details


1. The details of the transfer case oil pump installation are shown in the illustration, to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the bearing assembly (see Section Removal and installation of the transfer case bearing assembly).

3. Remove the thrust washer (1).

4. Remove the magnet (2).

5. Remove the filter (3) from the mounting niche.

6. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the pump assembly (4) from the transfer case housing.

7. Rinse all components thoroughly, wipe with chamois leather and dry with compressed air.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order: - make sure that the protrusion of the bearing plate of the pump assembly, with the bolt heads facing upwards, aligns with the chamfer of the shaft; - if necessary, turn the latter several times; - the pump assembly must be completely seated on the drive shaft.

9. Finally, check the transfer case for signs of developing leaks.
