Removing
The water pump is located on the top side of the cylinder block and is driven by a ribbed belt. To remove it, it is necessary to lower the power unit down on the transverse beam of the front axle.
1. Drain the coolant, see relevant chapter.
2. Lower the motor down on the cross member, see relevant chapter.
3. Loosen four bolts 1 fastening the water pump drive belt pulley (see arrows in illustration).
4. Remove ribbed belt 2 (see illustration 7.3).
5. Completely unscrew the bolts securing the water pump drive belt pulley and remove the belt pulley from the water pump shaft.
If the coolant hose 3 is attached to the water pump with bolts 4 (see illustration 7.3), That:
6. Unscrew the two bolts 4 and 5 (see illustration 7.3). Unscrew the third bolt from the oil filter mounting bracket and remove the coolant hose from the cylinder block by pushing the hose up.
Attention! Illustration 7.3 shows only two hose bolts.
7. Remove a sealing ring of the pipeline of a cooling liquid.
8. Unscrew the water pump mounting bolts 6 and remove it from the cylinder block (see illustration 7.3).
9. Remove the water pump gasket.
Installation
10. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and water pump.
11. Install the water pump in place, replacing with a new profiled rubber gasket, and secure it with bolts. The tightening torque of the water pump mounting bolts is 8 Nm.
12. Install, if removed, the coolant circulation hose with a new gasket in the hole in the cylinder block.
Attention! To facilitate the installation of the gasket, it is recommended to moisten it with soapy water.
13. Screw in the mounting bolts without tightening them.
Bolt tightening sequence and torques:
- socket head bolt on the cylinder block with a force of 14 Nm;
- socket head bolt on water pump with 8 Nm;
- socket head bolt on oil filter housing with 8 Nm.
14. Install the belt pulley and lightly tighten it with bolts.
15. Lay the ribbed belt, see relevant chapter.
16. Tighten four bolts 1 fastening the water pump drive belt pulley (see illustration 7.3). Tightening torque 8 Nm.
17. Raise the engine on the front axle cross member and secure it.
18. Fill in coolant and bleed air from the cooling system, see relevant chapter.
