Removing
1. Remove the tie rod end 1 (see illustration 20.2).
2. Loosen the clamping collars 2 that secure the cuff 3 of the steering mechanism and remove them (see illustration).
3. Check up a condition of collars and if necessary replace them with new ones.
Attention! The illustration shows the outer collar of the cuff.
4. Remove the cuff.
5. Inspect the rack and tie rod inner joint for rust or play. In the event of rust, the rack and pinion steering gear must be replaced as a set. If the ball joint is broken, then the cross rod must be replaced together with the tip (work is done in the workshop).
Installation
The cuff is installed in the reverse order of removal.
