Removing
1. Align the front wheels of the car.
2. Remove the steering wheel, see relevant chapter.
3. Unscrew the contact coil from the steering wheel and carefully pull it out of the casing.
Attention! In doing so, unscrew the fixing bolts only far enough to remove the contact coil. Completely unscrew the bolts, so as not to change the position of the removed contact spiral.
4. Inspect the contact coil for damage.
Installation
5. Make sure the front wheels of the car are aligned and straight.
6. Insert the contact spiral up to the stop and fasten it with bolts.
Attention! When installing the contact spiral must be in the middle position. If the position of the spiral has been inadvertently changed, then it must be set to the middle position.
How to set the spiral to the middle position, see below.
7. Install the steering wheel, see relevant chapter.
Attention! If the power supply to the steering angle sensor is disconnected, the ABS warning lights come on after it is installed (shock absorber stiffness regulator) or ESP (stability stabilization system). The steering wheel angle sensor is attached to the contact coil and removed with it.
8. After installing the steering wheel, activate the steering angle sensor by starting the engine and leaving it to idle.
9. Turn, without turning off the engine, the steering wheel from lock to lock, first to the left and then to the right. After that, the signal light should go out.
The procedure for installing the contact spiral in the middle position
The presence of the contact coil in the middle position ensures the perfect functioning of the airbag and turn signals. When disassembled, the contact spiral is fixed with fixing bolts.
10. Fully screw the fixing bolts into the contact coil.
11. Turn the coil to the left until there is a slight resistance to winding. This means that the helix is fully wound.
12. Make 2.5-3 turns of the spiral to the right, i.e. reverse side so that you can loosen the fixing bolts. As a result, the contact spiral will be fixed in the middle position.
Attention! Until full compression, the contact spiral rotates 5-6 revolutions.
