On fig. 249 shows the mounting of the stabilizer bar. The stabilizer bar is screwed through rubber bushings in the indicated places to the longitudinal beams and is connected through the racks to the support pins of the upper suspension brackets. When removing and installing, you must perform the following operations:
- loosen the mounting brackets securing the stabilizer to the longitudinal beams and spread the clamps, while the brackets remain in place;
- use a suitable rod to knock out the rubber bushings from the brackets;
Pic. 250. Dismantling the stabilizer bar (the arrow indicates the direction of dismantling)
- using a punch on both sides, knock out the racks from the support pins of the upper suspension brackets, as shown in fig. 250. The bushings remain on the trunnions, they can be removed by turning with the help of pliers;
- remove the stabilizer bar;
- clamp it in a vise and knock it off the tips of the rack. The position of the racks before this should be marked. Rubber bushings also remain on the tips and are pulled together with tongs;
- if necessary, replace the rubber bushings of the uprights, place the upright on an anvil and knock out the bushings with a suitable rod;
- moisten new bushings with soapy water and press them into the racks;
Pic. 251. Installing the stabilizer bar
- clamp both ends of the stabilizer bar in turn in a vise, as shown in fig. 251, and put on racks. To lighten the bushings, moisten with soapy water. Finally install the racks with a plastic hammer;
- install the stabilizer bar in place and insert into the brackets. Bolts should be tightened by hand;
- Moisten the bushings of the lower ends of the stabilizer struts with soapy water and put them on the support pins of the suspension brackets. Finally push them with a plastic hammer until it stops;
- Moisten the rubber bushings of the stabilizer from the inside with soapy water and put on the stabilizer bar. Then bring them under the mounting brackets and install exactly in the center;
- center the stabilizer and tighten the bolts of the brackets to a torque of 25-28 Nm.
