Accurate data on the state of shock absorbers is obtained on a special stand, which gives a diagram of their work. Service centers are equipped with such stands.
There are several ways to determine shock absorber wear:
- steering beating caused by the loss of reliable constant contact of the wheels with the roadway;
- body vibrations when driving through bumps;
- «floating» the behavior of the car when cornering, since the wheel of the inner turning radius is not sufficiently pressed against the road, and the outer wheel, on the contrary, is not sufficiently damped;
- intermittent brake trail during emergency braking due to wheel shaking (on vehicles with ABS, this effect is suppressed by the anti-lock braking system);
- uneven and increased tire wear.
