Checking the battery charge (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

If, despite a sufficient electrolyte level, the battery does not provide the required power, its charge should be checked. It is best to use a hydrometer for this. The scale of the device shows the density of the electrolyte in the battery. A high-precision tester (error within ±0.02 V) can also be used for measurement. The open-circuit voltage value will allow you to judge the battery charge.

1. Perform the measurement no earlier than 6 hours after the previous recharging.

2. Unscrew or remove the plug from the battery housing.



3. Hold the hydrometer horizontally. Use the bulb of the device to collect enough electrolyte from the battery so that the float floats freely in it (Fig. 9.5).
