Sequence of work
1. Remove the wire from the negative battery terminal, connect the multimeter wire between the negative battery terminal and «weight». If the device shows a current that exceeds 20 mA, there is a faulty consumer in the circuit. Before checking, make sure that all consumers are turned off.
2. Connect the wire to the negative terminal, open the fuse box and remove one fuse. Connect the tester wire to the fuse contacts. If the device does not show current, the circuit of this consumer is not damaged. A small amount of current is acceptable. Devices such as clocks, radios or alarms constantly draw power from the battery. However, the current in their circuit is much lower than that of a faulty device.
3. Continue measuring on the fuse block until the device is identified, in the circuit of which there is a large current. From the fuse table, you can find out which devices are connected through it.
4. Disconnect the devices in this circuit one by one and measure the current each time. When the tester no longer shows current, the faulty device has been detected.
