Removing the upper casing of the heater
The location of the screws for fastening pipes to the heater radiator
1. On models prior to May 1990, drain the coolant from the cooling system.
2. Remove the instrument panel.
3. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
4. Working in the engine compartment, loosen the clamps and remove the supply and two return heater coolant hoses.
Attention! To purge coolant from the heater core, apply low pressure air through one of the coolant supply hoses to the heater core.
5. On models from May 1990, remove the heater from the vehicle.
6. Release the brackets, unscrew the screws and remove the upper heater cover (see fig. Removing the top heater cover).
7. Remove clamps from coolant supply and return pipes.
8. Unscrew the screws and remove the supply and return pipes from the heater core (see fig. The location of the screws for fastening pipes to the heater radiator). Remove the O-rings.
Attention! On models from May 1990, the third connection is located at the bottom of the heater core and can only be disconnected after the heater core has been removed from the heater block.
9. Unscrew the screws and remove the heater core from the heater block.
10. Clean the heater core housing and wipe off any coolant that may have leaked from the old heater core.
Removal on models with Valeo heater
1. Remove the heater.
2. Unscrew the screws and disconnect the supply and return pipes from the side of the heater.
3. Unscrew the screws and remove the panel on the left side of the heater.
4. Remove the control cable from the main flap lever on the lower left side of the heater.
5. Remove the brackets, unscrew the screws and separate the front and rear halves of the heater casing.
6. Unscrew the screws and disconnect the supply and return pipes from the heater core. Remove the O-rings.
7. Remove the heater core from the casing.
8. Clean the heater core housing and wipe off any coolant that may have come from the old heater core.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. Install new O-rings on the connections of the supply and return pipes to the heater core.
3. Pour coolant into the cooling system.
