1. On models prior to May 1990, drain the coolant from the cooling system.

2. Remove the instrument panel.

3. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

4. While working in the engine compartment, loosen the clamps and remove the heater radiator coolant supply and two return hoses.

Caution: To remove coolant from the heater core, apply low pressure air through one of the coolant supply hoses to the heater core.


5. On May 1990 models, remove the heater from the vehicle.



6. Release the clamps, unscrew the screws and remove the upper heater casing (see fig. Removing the upper heater casing).

7. Remove the clamps from the coolant supply and return pipes.

8. Unscrew the screws and remove the supply and return pipes from the heater radiator (see fig. Location of screws for fastening pipes to the heater radiator). Remove the O-ring round section.

Caution: On models from May 1990 onwards, the third connection is located at the bottom of the heater core and can only be disconnected after the heater core has been removed from the heater unit.


9. Remove the screws and remove the heater core from the heater unit.

10. Clean the heater core shroud and wipe away any remaining coolant that may have leaked from the old heater core.

Removal on models with Valeo heater



1. Remove the heater.

2. Remove the screws and disconnect the supply and return pipes from the side of the heater.

3. Unscrew the screws and remove the panel from the left side of the heater.

4. Remove the control cable from the main flap lever on the lower left side of the heater.

5. Remove the brackets, unscrew the screws and separate the front and rear halves of the heater housing.

6. Unscrew the screws and disconnect the supply and return pipes from the heater radiator. Remove the O-rings.

7. Remove the heater radiator from the casing.

8. Clean the heater core shroud and wipe away any traces of coolant that may have come from the old heater core.

Installation



1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.



2. Install new sealing rings on the supply and return pipe connections to the heater core.

3. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
