Removing
1. Remove the engine or transmission.
2. Remove the clutch.
3. Secure the flywheel against turning by placing a lock on the flywheel ring gear. Put alignment marks on the flywheel and crankshaft.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the flywheel.
Examination
Measuring the length of the flywheel bolt
d is the minimum diameter of the bolt,
d = 8 mm,
L is the maximum length of the bolt,
L = 22.5 mm
1. On manual transmission models, check the flywheel for wear on the clutch side and the condition of the flywheel ring gear teeth.
2. On models with automatic transmission, check the condition of the torque converter drive and ring gear.
3. Measure the length of the flywheel bolt to the base of the bolt head (see picture). If the length of the bolt exceeds the allowable limits, the bolts as a set must be replaced.
Installation
1. Clean mating surfaces of flywheel and crankshaft.
2. Install the flywheel in accordance with the previously made marks, while it should be installed on the guide pin, and secure with bolts.
3. Secure the flywheel from turning and finally tighten the flywheel mounting bolts.
4. Install the clutch.
5. Install the engine or gearbox.
