Removal
1. Remove the engine or gearbox.
2. Remove the clutch.
3. Secure the flywheel from turning by installing a locking pin on the flywheel ring gear. Apply alignment marks to the flywheel and crankshaft.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the flywheel.
Examination
Measuring the length of the flywheel mounting bolt
d – minimum bolt diameter,
d = 8 mm,
L – maximum bolt length,
L = 22.5 mm
1. On models with a manual transmission, check the flywheel for wear on the clutch side and the condition of the flywheel ring gear teeth.
2. On models with automatic transmission, check the condition of the torque converter drive and ring gear.
3. Measure the length of the flywheel mounting bolt to the base of the bolt head (see picture). If the bolt length exceeds the permissible limits, the bolts in the set must be replaced.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the flywheel and crankshaft.
2. Install the flywheel in accordance with the previously applied marks, while it should be installed on the guide pin, and secure with bolts.
3. Secure the flywheel from turning and finally tighten the flywheel mounting bolts.
4. Install the clutch.
5. Install the engine or gearbox.
