Oil pump
Removing
Location of the oil pump sprocket bolt (1) and oil pump mounting bolts (2)
1. Remove the oil pan.
2. Unscrew the bolt and remove the sprocket together with the drive chain from the oil pump shaft.
3. On 5- and 6-cylinder engines, unscrew the bolt securing the oil pickup pipe to the bracket.
4. Unscrew the three bolts and remove the oil pump from the cylinder block (see fig. Location of the oil pump sprocket bolt and oil pump bolts)).
Examination
1. Only parts of the oil pressure relief valve can be checked.
2. Unscrew the safety valve plug. When doing this, keep in mind that it is affected by the force of a compressed spring.
3. Remove spring, guide pin and piston.
4. Clean all parts, check their condition and replace if necessary.
5. On engines with an oil catcher plate on the cylinder block, when removing the oil pump, remove and clean the oil catcher plate.
6. Install the oil pressure relief valve parts in the reverse order of removal.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points...
1. Before installing the oil pump, fill it with clean engine oil.
2. Install the oil pump sprocket with the convex side towards the pump.
3. Fill the engine with engine oil.
Drive chain replacement
Attention! When replacing the oil pump drive chain, the oil pump sprocket must also be replaced.
Attention! When removing the chain, use an emery wheel or vulcanite to cut off the protruding hats of one of the chain links.
1. Remove the oil pan.
2. Loosen the oil pump sprocket bolt.
3. Using an emery wheel or vulcanite, grind down the rivets on one of the chain links.
4. Remove the chain link fixing plate and knock out the chain link.
5. Remove the oil pump sprocket bolt and remove the sprocket from the pump shaft.
6. Install the new sprocket onto the oil pump shaft with the convex side toward the pump.
7. Using the link removed from the chain, connect the end of the old chain to the new chain. Turning the engine crankshaft clockwise, pass the new chain around the crankshaft sprocket. At the same time, keep the chain branches taut so that it does not come off the crankshaft sprocket.
8. After the new circuit comes out, disconnect the old circuit from it.
9. Install the ends of the new chain on the oil pump sprocket and connect them with a connecting link.
10. Install the fixing plate on the connecting link of the chain and rivet the connecting link. Check that no metal burrs remain after riveting the connecting link.
11. Tighten the oil pump sprocket bolt to the specified torque.
12. Install the oil pan.
