Caution! A lifting mechanism must be used to remove the oil pan, and a new gasket must be used when installing the oil pan.
Location of the oil level sensor on the oil pan

Removal
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. Unscrew the bolt securing the air intake to the front body panel and remove the air intake.
3. Remove the radiator fan shroud.
4. Remove the lower engine splash shield.
5. Drain the engine oil from the engine.
6. Remove the front anti-roll bar. The anti-roll bar can be left under the car by unscrewing its mount.
7. Working under the vehicle, unscrew the lower powertrain mount bolts on both sides of the engine.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the oil level and pressure sensors.
9. On automatic transmission models, remove the nuts and bolts securing the pipes to the oil pan.
10. Remove the nuts and bolts securing the oil cooler pipes to the oil pan and intake manifold bracket and move the pipes to the sides.
11. Attach the lifting gear straps to the front engine lifting eye and lift the engine.
12. Remove the center tie rod and steering damper.
13. On models with the optional right side oil pan section, remove the bolts and side oil pan section and gasket.
14. Remove the two lower bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.
15. Raise the engine and loosen the oil pan mounting bolts evenly in a diagonal pattern. Note the bolt locations as bolts of varying lengths may be used.
16. Remove the oil pan and lift it out from under the vehicle. If necessary, rotate the engine crankshaft to make it easier to remove the oil pan.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and oil pan.
2. Install the gasket on the oil pan and install the oil pan on the cylinder block. Secure the oil pan with bolts.
3. Working from the center in a diagonal pattern, tighten the oil pan mounting bolts.
4. Lower the engine and install the lower powertrain mount bolts.
5. If equipped, install the auxiliary oil pan side section with a new gasket and secure with bolts, tightening them to the specified torque.
6. Screw in the lower transmission-to-engine mounting bolts.
7. Install the center tie rod and steering damper.
8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Fill the engine with motor oil.
