Service lever positions:
- 1 - Normal working position;
- 2 - The position at which diagnostics are performed.
When the ignition key is turned to position 2, the yellow control lamp in the speedometer and the yellow lamp 4 MATIC in the instrument cluster come on.
The yellow control lamp lights up when driving, if a differential lock is additionally connected to the front wheel drive. The differential is locked as long as the vehicle is moving on slippery surfaces.
The inclusion of all-wheel drive 4 MATIC depends on the condition of the roadway.
If the 4 MATIC warning light comes on when the engine is running, or together with the yellow warning light on the speedometer, there is a malfunction in the all-wheel drive system. In this case, move the service lever in the engine compartment to the right as far as it will go to position 2. In this case, the vehicle will be driven only by the rear wheels.
If there is a malfunction in the all-wheel drive system, contact a Mercedes-Benz workshop.
When diagnosing all-wheel drive, the service lever in the engine compartment must be set to position 2. At the same time, the all-wheel drive indicator lamp lights up and immediately goes out.
The all-wheel drive diagnostic time should not exceed 15 minutes.
