Note. On cars produced since September 1979, instead of a nut, a cone bolt is installed, which is replaced with a new one.
Removing the steering wheel mount

1. Remove the decorative trim upwards, starting from the bottom left (right) corner near the steering wheel hub (for a car produced before August 1979) or remove the cover with the decorative emblem in the center of the lining.
2. Align the steering wheel so that the groove (arrow) was directed upward.
3. Mark the relative position of the steering wheel and column shaft.
4. Lock the steering column lock and unscrew the countersunk head screw with a socket wrench, which requires considerable force.
5. Loosen the large hex nut.
6. Remove the steering wheel from the splines of the shaft.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
8. The steering wheel is tightened with a nut to a torque of 8.0 kgf·m.
