1. Remove both lower instrument panel covers.
2. In the engine compartment, use a socket wrench to loosen both bolts securing the coupling to the steering gear. Slide the coupling until it stops in the steering gear.
3. In the passenger compartment, use a socket wrench to unscrew the bolt securing the lower end of the column to the coupling.
4. Slide the coupling down and then, being careful not to damage it, remove it from the vehicle. If necessary, remove the corrugated boot.

5. Install in the reverse order of removal, lubricating the sealing ring at the lower end of the pipe with a small amount of grease.
6. Make sure that the coupling mounting bolts are located in special grooves, if this is provided for by the design.
