Note: A new coupling clamp bolt is required for installation.
Removal
1. Remove the steering column as described in paragraph 18.
2. Make alignment marks between the coupling and the steering gear pinion, then loosen the lower clamp bolt and remove the coupling from the vehicle.
3. Check the condition of the coupling. If damage or destruction is detected, replace it.
Installation
4. Align the marks made before removal and insert the coupling into the steering gear splines.
5. Insert the new clamp bolt and tighten it to the required torque.
6. Install the steering column as described in paragraph 18.
