1. Remove the bipod as described in paragraph 22.
2. Remove the upper snap ring from the steering gear pinion, then carefully pry the seal out of the socket.
3. Remove all traces of dirt from the crankcase and gear and apply electrical tape over the splines.
4. Place the new seal over the end of the steering gear pinion and press it perpendicularly into the steering gear housing.
5. Remove the tape from the gear splines, then install the upper snap ring, making sure it is properly positioned in the gear groove.

6. Install the bipod as described in paragraph 22.
7. On models with power steering, bleed the system as described in paragraph 25.
