Note: New steering shock absorber bolt nuts will be required during installation.


Removal



1. Apply the parking brake and place chocks under the rear wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and place it on supports (see "Lifting the car and placing it on supports").

2. Loosen and unscrew the shock absorber mounting nuts and bolts, remembering how they are installed (see Fig. 26.2, a, b).

3. Check the condition of the shock absorber and rubber bushings. If wear, damage or destruction is detected, replace.

Installation



4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the shock absorber is installed correctly. Tighten the new nuts onto the mounting bolts with the required tightening force.
