Checking the radial clearance in the connecting rod bearings (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

1. Install the bearing shell into the connecting rod cap and connecting rod. Tighten the connecting rod cap mounting bolts to a torque of 42 Nm + 90°.

2. Measure the inner diameter of the connecting rod lower head together with the bearings and record the measured value (see figure 2.72).

3. Measure the dimensions of the crankshaft connecting rod journals (see figure 2.73).

4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the liners.
