Heater housing (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

Removal



1. Remove the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.

2. Reduce the pressure in the cooling system.

3. Drain the coolant.

4. Remove the instrument panel bracket.

5. Remove the heating and ventilation control unit (except for models 638.094/194/294).

6. Remove the air conditioner control panel (only on models 638.094/194/294).

7. Remove the heater fan relay.

8. Disconnect the wiring connector from the heater housing M40t45.1, M40u77.1, M40g35.1 and M40k17.1 (connector M40k17.1 is missing on models 638.094/194/294) (see figure 10.1).

9. Disconnect the wiring connectors: B29.1, A14.1, B28.1 and A36.1.

10. Unscrew bolts 3 securing pipes 4 to radiator 5.

11. Unscrew bolts 6 securing pipes 4 to heater body 1.

12. Unscrew nut 7 securing the heater housing to the bracket on the body.

13. Remove the expansion valve.

14. Disconnect drain pipe 8 from heater body 1.

15. Remove the heater housing 1

Installation



16. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
