Removal and installation the bimetallic spring housing of the automatic starting device (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W123)

Removal



1. Drain some of the coolant and remove the liquid chamber housing cover.

2. Remove the bimetallic spring housing, having first disconnected the electrical wire from it.

Installation



1. Install the spacer with the convex surface towards the carburetor.

2. Install the bimetallic spring housing by connecting its loop to the drive lever.

3. Tighten the screw that secures the bimetallic spring housing, aligning the marks on it and on the housing of the starting device.

4. Connect the electrical wire to the bimetallic spring body.

5. Replace the cover fastening screw washer and the bimetallic spring housing sealing ring if necessary.

6. Install the bimetallic spring housing cover.

7. Top up the coolant to the normal level and bleed air from the engine cooling system.
