Replacing brake fluid (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

Brake fluid must be replaced at least once a year. For this, it is better to contact a service center. If you are replacing it yourself, please refer to the following instructions. "Bleeding the brakes". Below are only brief recommendations:

• pump out the brake fluid from the reservoir using a syringe or a bulb shown in the figure 268;

Warning! Brake fluid is toxic. Under no circumstances should you pump it out by mouth through a hose.

• fill with new brake fluid (DOT 4);
• open the bleed nipple on the brake mechanism of each wheel in turn and, slowly pressing the brake pedal, pump out some fluid. Press the pedal approximately 10 times for each wheel;
• while doing this, monitor the fluid level in the tank and top it up in a timely manner, preventing air from getting into the system;
• work should begin with the right rear wheel, since its mechanism is the furthest away.
